Carnegie Hall+ offers new programs of beloved ballet favorites and three landmark performances from Milan’s iconic Teatro alla Scala. Experience celebrated productions of Giselle choreographed by Yvette Chauviré; and Le Corsaire and Sylvia choreographed by Manuel Legris. Don’t miss Leontyne Price and Luciano Pavarotti in Verdi’s Requiem with La Scala Orchestra and Chorus, Franco Zeffirelli’s first major film of Puccini’s La bohème conducted by Herbert von Karajan, and soprano Frederica von Stade as Cinderella in Rossini’s beloved opera.

Verdi’s Requiem is a work of awesome grandeur, ranging from hushed reverence to raging fury to sobbing grief. A quartet of opera stars, including Leontyne Price and Luciano Pavarotti, joins La Scala Orchestra and Chorus in this innovatively filmed concert led by Herbert von Karajan.

Franco Zeffirelli’s first major film production features Herbert von Karajan leading Milan’s La Scala Orchestra and Chorus, soprano Mirella Freni, and tenor Gianni Raimondi in Puccini’s beloved opera set in 19th-century bohemian Paris.

Rossini’s version of the Cinderella tale abounds in comedy and vocal virtuosity. Claudio Abbado conducted this 1981 production at Milan’s La Scala, featuring soprano Frederica von Stade.

A tale of love, betrayal, and redemption, Giselle stirs emotions with a story set in the contrast between a sunlit world and a dark, haunted realm. Originally directed by Coralli and Perrot, Yvette Chauvire reimagines the choreography of her most famous role.

This production gives new life to a 19th-century classic. With powerful characters and feats of virtuosity, choreographer Manuel Legris adds freshness to a timeless story of mythological inspiration.

Choreographer Manuel Legris’s Le Corsaire highlights his creativity and energetic virtuosity. With its clear and accessible plot, and evocative decor and costumes, it is one of the 19th century’s most adventurous and thrilling ballets.
