The Carnival of the Animals
with the Kanneh-Mason Family

The supremely talented Kanneh-Mason siblings and other star instrumentalists perform Saint-Saens's "grand zoological fantasy." Although the composer feared this piece would ruin his reputation, it became one of his most popular works.

Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela
conducted by Gustavo Dudamel

Gustavo Dudamel—famed alum of Venezuela’s El Sistema—leads the program’s premier orchestra in a concert of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Martha Argerich, Renaud Capucon, and Gautier Capucon.

Rossini’s Cinderella
with Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Flórez

The timeless rags-to-riches story of Cinderella is wonderfully re-told by Rossini. With a light and bubbly tone to delight fans of any age, this production from Barcelona captures all the vocal dazzle of its phenomenal lead singers.

National Children’s Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela
conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and Jesús Parra

Rarely has an international debut so enchanted an audience. Comprising musicians ages 9–14, the orchestra’s Salzburg Festival premiere features Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Gershwin’s “Cuban Overture,” and Ginastera’s Danzas de Estancia.

Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel
from the Vienna State Opera

Based on the beloved story by the Brothers Grimm, Humperdinck’s fairy-tale opera is enduringly popular with children and adults alike, setting the familiar story to a magical combination of folk-inspired melodies and rich orchestrations.
